Canvas has a new quizzing tool option coming soon.
In this post you will find some basic information about the new tool. More information will be coming as we get closer to implementation.
Timeline
- Fall of 2023: Faculty will have the option of coming to trainings about this new tool and will have access to documentation about it.
- Spring 2024: Faculty will have the option of creating New Quizzes or Classic Quizzes in their courses.
- Summer 2024: Faculty will have the option of migrating all of their quizzes to New Quizzes when they import their course content.
New Quizzes Information
New Quizzes has a variety of features that are not available in Classic Quizzes. These include the ability to:
- print quizzes
- add extra time for a student across an entire course
- require a waiting period between attempts
- duplicate a quiz from the Quizzes page
- shuffle answers per question
- shuffle questions globally without using question banks
- search and filter item banks
New Quizzes also has a few new question types including:
- Categorization
- Stimulus/Passage
- Ordering
There are also some Classic quiz functions that will need workarounds including surveys and practice quizzes.
